Your phone is now a camcorder.

VHS Camera turns your live camera feed into worn-in analog tape. Every frame runs through a real analog pipeline: scanlines, chroma bleed, tracking glitches and dropouts. Not a filter slapped on top.

What it does

Live, not filtered on top

The tape look runs on the preview itself. Frame the shot, press record, and the take is already finished. No editor timeline required.

Photos and video with audio

Stills and clips with sound, carrying the same worn-in character across both: scanlines, chromatic bleed, noise, flicker, vignette and a camcorder-style screen.

Manual tracking

Pull the picture out of alignment for a short burst of head-wreck and glitch whenever a shot needs it. Manual tracking is part of VHS-CAM Pro.

Real camcorder controls

Switch between front and back cameras, zoom, use flash, mirror the image, add a date stamp, set the tape speed and watch the tape counter.

A shelf, not a camera roll

Captures land in an on-device Tape Library with tape labels, playback, photo viewing and erase controls. Mirror the ones you want to your photo library and share from there.

Fourteen tape stocks

Start with the balanced warmth of Classic VHS, the soft texture of Lo-Fi, the hot colors of 80s Cam, the jitter of Spy Cam or the clean signal of Tapeless. When you want more wear, switch to Damaged, Glitchy, Rental Copy or Night Rec. Each stock has its own color and noise, plus its own amount of tracking trouble.

How to use it

  1. Open the app and pick a tape stock. Classic VHS is the balanced default.
  2. Frame your shot. The analog look is already running on the live preview.
  3. Press record for video with audio, or take a photo.
  4. Find the take in your Tape Library, then save it to your photo library or share it.

It suits 80s and 90s throwbacks, home movies, parties, music clips, skate videos, found-footage ideas and travel diaries.

Free and Pro

The free version gives you the core camera, the Classic VHS, Lo-Fi and Tapeless stocks, and video recordings up to 60 seconds, with a watermark on saved captures. VHS-CAM Pro adds all fourteen tape stocks and manual tracking, takes the watermark off and allows takes up to 30 minutes. It is sold as a subscription or a lifetime purchase inside the app, and prices vary by storefront.

Nothing leaves your phone.

No accounts, no camera uploads, no advertising, and no cross-app tracking. Your photos and videos stay on your device unless you choose to save or share them.
